The IEC's statement on Harrow Mosque

The ex-IEC Mohammed Kozbar wrote a letter to the Charity Commission (CC) on Harrow Mosque. This is my response to some of his remarks (I am in NO way associated with the Harrow Mosque Your Masjid team or any committee):

Contention 1 of Kozbar:
The 61 additional voters that were not on the membership register were allowed to vote in the elections because they produced a receipt and photo ID.

Refutation of contention 1:
The verification done by Kozbar was not sufficient. Just because a person has a receipt and proof of ID, it doesn't mean that the person was eligible to vote. Being eligible to vote is determined by being a member before the membership deadline. This is clear for anyone without bias.
Another critical flaw in Kozbar's methodology is that he or anyone else did not check that the 61 additional voters lived in the area which the constitution specifies as a criteria for valid membership and voting.
Furthermore receipts can be forged, or people can bring in the receipts of other family or friends and claim that it is their own. Thus again the receipts aren't sufficient proof for eligibility to vote.
Kozbar however admitted to trying to agree these receipts to the receipts of payment held by HCM but he couldn't agree them. He laid the blame on HCM being slow to provide the documentation and it not being in date order. However the slowness and lack of date order was not deliberate but was due to the large amount of members meaning that there was a large amount of documentation. Furthermore the documentation wasn't kept in order and is the reason why it wasn't presented in date order. It is not the job of HCM to do the IEC's work. It is the IEC's job to verify the membership.

Contention 2 of Kozbar:
Kozbar asks a question about why the 61 additional voters weren't on the membership list.

Refutation of contention 2:
Maybe the answer is because they weren't members.
Furthermore the HCM committee team was not involved in the election process. They also could not know who people will vote for. If they were to take people off, they would risk losing votes! Thus they couldn't have deliberately taken people off the membership list.

Contention 3 of Kozbar:
The key control to prevent 116 rejected voters was removed due to the temperature and the long queue reasons. Security only let people who were members in.

Refutation of contention 3:
Javed Kamal designed the election process and Kozbar was briefed on the process the night before. Due to Kozbar not knowing the full election process, he had checkpoint 1 (which was the key control to prevent 116 rejected voters) removed.
It is a fact from the event and witnesses that security was not checking that the people were members. That was neither their role nor their action. One wonders from where Kozbar managed to imagine that the security replaced the key control.
In fact if security was only allowing members to cast votes, then they would not have allowed the 61 additional voters in.
Furthermore the security staff were not given training on elections and thus were not qualified in the matter.

Contention 4 of Kozbar:
A member from the HCM Committee accepted the additional 61 voters.

Refutation of contention 4:
It is not the role of the HCM to accept or reject the additional voters on the day. That was the role, job and decision of the IEC.

Additional points:

Point 1
The IEC mentioned that the panel he appointed included Javed Kamal. In the AGM, Javed Kamal completely refuted the IEC on his CC letter.

Point 2
Why was the IEC having secret meetings with the living masjid/United Ummah team? (livingmasjid / unitedummah)
Wasn't he supposed to be independent?
Was he colluding?
http://livingmasjid.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/collusion-in-harrow-mosque-elections.html
http://livingmasjid.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/further-collusion-in-hcm-elections.html

Point 3
Why did the IEC not ban the living masjid team after clear offers of bribes by the living masjid group on their own facebook group? One example is seen here:
http://livingmasjid.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/collusion-in-harrow-mosque-elections.html

Point 4
Kozbar closed his CC letter with the title "IEC of Harrow Mosque" on the 26th of January 2015. However he seized his role as IEC on the 13th of January 2015 and thus has no authority to claim to be an IEC of Harrow Mosque. One wonders why he has so obviously lied in the letter again?

Conclusion
It is concluded that the failure of the Harrow Mosque election process is heavily due to Mohammed Kozbar (the ex-IEC), his bias, and non-factual letter that he wrote to the CC. It is also significantly due to his letter that a lot of disputes were started by the living masjid group in the AGM, so it can be said that part of the quagmire that HCM is currently in is due to him. The ex-IEC should be held accountable for his grave errors and aggravation of the delicate situation.

However my comments were deleted for some reason. It seems like freedom of speech isn't possible.

Is the living masjid team wahabi?

Some people ask if the living masjid (LM)/"United Ummah" (UU) team that has tried to take over Harrow Mosque are wahabis?

The fact is summarised as follows:
The LM and UU team consists of a number of individuals. Many of them are wahabi, some are HT (Hizb ur tahrir) and some are unknown or Sunni.

Ask the LM and UU team the following questions:

1) Why are your members associated with wahabi institutes, for example Abid Khan- A full and well known wahabi who is part of Qiblah Foundation, a purely wahabi organisation with Yusuf Chambers.

2) Why do you have wahabis like Adnan Rashid and Yusuf Chambers supporting the livingmasjid team, and the livingmasjid (also called "United Ummah") twitter keeps posting on their wall and retweeting their messages? Adnan Rashid is the opposite of "openness" and "masjid4all" that the livingmasjid group keeps promoting.
For example:

3) Before the elections, the livingmasjid campaigners were sending texts and videos arguing that Harrow Mosque is "peeri", "doing shirk", etc. On the livingmasjid twitter, they promoted the video accusing Harrow Mosque of "shirk" (the video has been taken down since I exposed them a few days ago). Why did they do that if they're not wahabi? Such acts are the trademarks of wahabism.

4) They also openly supported the unauthorised wahabi sisters circle that was occurring in Harrow Mosque. When the Harrow Mosque Sunni committee asked the wahabi sisters leader to show her credentials, identity, obtain permission to teach in the Mosque and go through the proper permissions, she became rude, refused to cooperate and didn't go through the proper procedures of teaching. The livingmasjid team took her side and presented lies to support her case, falsely accused the committee of trying to ban sisters. Why did they support a wahabi teaching?

5) All the wahabi Mosques in the Harrow area were openly supporting the livingmasjid group. Why would wahabis support livingmasjid if they're not furthering the wahabi agenda?

6) Why did livingmasjid condemn doing Mawlid in Harrow Mosque and accuse the Mosque of using donation money (even though the donations were given specifically for Mawlid)?

This all shows that the livingmasjid group is full of wahabis, no matter how much they may try to lie about that fact (this group has been known to lie, as also witnessed by some of the defections from their side). Whilst some may not be wahabi in the livingmasjid group, it is clear that the group is wahabi and has a wahabi agenda.

Open letter on Harrow Mosque elections

Someone else wrote this about Harrow Mosque elections and the "living Masjid"/"United Ummah" claims:
"An open reply to the sister posting ‘A Sorry Saga for all: Power Politics in a British Mosque’

Dear Young Sister (It is said wisdom comes with age, also knowing that you do not know, therefore I’m assuming you are young).

The injunctions in the Holy Quran and the Noble Hadith are clear ‘when news comes to you verify it, lest you should harm people in ignorance and afterwards become regretful for what you have done’ 49:6.

Most of the allegations made are plain lies and at best half-baked truths.

The elections were flawed and fundamentally rigged from beginning to end, and can only be upheld in the fantasy micky mouse and banana republic world view. The standard of cheating has been second to none and completely unprecedented in Harrow Central Mosque.

Here is the tip of the iceberg

·         61 unknown persons registered on production of an unverified receipt alone.
·         Up to 116 persons voted from outside the area, which had previously had membership revoked on account of being outside the area.
·         4 Persons of the opposition actively ‘assisting’ voters in filling in ballot forms. Including the wife of one of the candidates.
·         Multiple ballot papers filled in.
·         Registered voters turned away and unable to vote.
·         Voters turning up to find their names crossed out already, suggested someone already voted in their place.
·         Many votes paid for memberships in return for guaranteed voting for candidates, even though they have no interest in the mosque.
·         Number of outside persons fraudulently registering an address in the area just to vote.
·         Unknown persons bought in last minute to count the ballot papers.
·         Unsecured ballot boxes taken home without due process prior to any reconciliation.
·         Whole campaign headed by a Multi-millionaire business tycoon, during whose tenure he employed his crony contractors (one-man bands each paid 100’s and thousands of community money, before declaring bankruptcy)  leaving the Mosque building in shambles, and thereafter costing 100’s thousands of pounds to put right.

Harrow Mosque belongs to the community of Harrow and surrounding areas; there is no way it can be handed over to outside outfit. The community refuse to accept this shambolic electoral process. Let fair elections take place and result will speak for itself.

Your insinuation it is a Pakistani Mosque, is also a flawed argument, as all segments of the community support Harrow Mosque, although it is a separate matter the Board of Governors (whom you also slate), most of who happen to be the elders and founders of the mosque happen to be from the Indian Subcontinent background.

No doubt being a chair of Harrow Central Mosque holds a lot of influence and sway with the authorities, which given someone is a director of a PLC working in the public sector will yield person dividend. But what cost to the community?

The Muslims of Harrow are rightful inheritors of the House of Allah!! The Mosque was not built to further anybody’s business interest or to further any geo-political plans and sow roots of radicalism or to support unsavoury charities.

Failings of the current trustees include entrusting someone as an election commission who failed to deliver the ‘election’ that has nor the experience or the integrity to deliver the same, who was more than partisan by actively colluding with one side.

You call them fair elections? Rigged to the core - Check the facts!!!

These people can hide from the people of Harrow from not from the Allah Taala and His Beloved Prophet SallaoAleyWaSalam.

Allah's Messenger (saas) said, "In the End Times men will come forth who will fraudulently use religion for worldly ends and wear sheepskins in public to display meekness. Their tongues will be sweeter than sugar, but their hearts will be the hearts of wolves."(Tirmidhi)"

Further collusion in HCM elections

Further documentary evidence has been revealed about Living Masjid/United Ummah's interference and influencing of the Harrow Mosque elections. It shows that:
Haroon Sheikh has often secretly been speaking to the IEC
and was influencing the election process,
Haroon Sheikh also asked the IEC for the number of members on the HCM database (which not even the existing HCM committee had access or knowledge of), saying:
"That you will provide us with the number of members registered as of Sunday the 16th of November."

Haroon Sheikh also told the IEC "That the current trustees and those standing for the elections will no longer be involved with the membership application process and any other administrative activities relating to the election."

On a side note this is additional evidence that the current committee did not partake in the administration of the elections.

This shows the lies and hypocrisy of Living Masjid/United Ummah team blaming the current HCM committee for the handling of the elections.

Collusion in Harrow Mosque elections?

A document has come to light recently which shows that the IEC (at the time),  Hamza Saghir, Haroon Sheikh, Javed Khan, Abid Khan and Usman Azam met at an address in Hatch End on 23rd October 2014 at 7pm to finalise the Harrow Mosque elections process.  It involved discussing the membership, trustee application process, electioneering in the Mosque etc.
The IEC was supposed to be impartial. Why did he meet the livingmasjid team in secret? Was the elections process rigged from the start?
Why did the former IEC refuse to investigate the many bribery complaints it received about livingmasjid, before the election date?
The livingmasjid team and the former IEC have many things to answer for.
Furthermore why was Abdullah Qureshi kicked out of the committee? Was it because on 24th October 2014, Uzma Qureshi openly offered to pay for the membership fees for another sister and her family to vote for the "livingmasjid" (or now called "United Ummah") group?. Uzma went on to say that the current exec committee is a cult. She also runs a girls circle in the Mosque, yet does such slander.
It is clear from the Harrow Mosque elections regulations that this is bribery.

Note that this is the same IEC who refused to investigate the clear offers of bribe by the living masjid team (formerly called "Save Your Mosque" even though most of their leaders are the same):

Harrow Mosque elections for truth?

The living masjid (livingmasjid) campaigners believe that they are representing the truth and that they are on the right path. This is a sincere advice to them and others:
The Salafi scholar and historian Ibn Jibrin said:
"And by careful study of these centuries: the fourth, the fifth, the sixth, and most of the seventh, you do not find anyone that is upon the school of the Sunnah"
This shows that the wahabi (also called "salafi" by the "living masjid" group) aqidah was dead for centuries and did not continue every generation. Compare this to the sahih hadith where the Prophet said:
"From every succeeding generation its upright folk shall carry this knowledge in turn. They shall repeal from it the distortions of the extremists (tahrif al-ghalin), the (mis)interpretations of the ignorant (ta'wil al-jahilin), and the pretenses of the liars (intihal al-mubtilin)." (Ahmed declared it Sahih as narrated by al-Khallal in his `Ilal per al-Khatib in Sharaf As-hab al-Hadith p. 29. It is narrated in numerous hadith collections like Tabarani, Ibn Adi, Ibn Abd al-Barr).
This shows that the wahabi movement opposes the Prophet, as well as opposes sahih hadiths. The wahabi movement is also the movement behind extremists like al-Qaeda and ISIS.
The origins of Wahabism lie in the person Muhammed ibn Abdul Wahhab, who led an ISIS style rebellion in the 18th century. He was directly responsible for the killing of countless innocent men, women and children, as well as attacks upon Makkah and Medinah (which he declared as "dar al kufr"). This can be found in the historical accounts of the time, as well as in the book by his own brother Sulayman ibn Abdul Wahhab (in the book called "Divine Lightning"). The Wahabi movement was considered as a khariji movement (also called khawarij) by the leading scholars of the day, such as Ibn Abidin.
We do not want wahabis to take over Harrow Mosque. We do not want people who oppose the Sunnah to take over Harrow Mosque. We do not want extremism to take over Harrow Mosque and for it to appear in the media over extremism. We say no to "livingmasjid"/"United Ummah team" (the people of which are wahabis).

Further specifically to the livingmasjid people:
You should look at the evidences and leave the wahabi beliefs. You will get no reward for trying to take over Harrow Mosque for wahabism. Come to the Ahlus Sunnah, which is represented by the Maturidis and the Ash'aris, the group which the vast majority of the Ummah followed in the past (from scholars like Ibn Hajar al Asqalani, Nawawi to Ibn Kathir).

When you have the likes of the ignorant wahabi extremists like Adnan Rashid and Yusuf Chambers supporting the livingmasjid team, and the livingmasjid (also called "United Ummah"( twitter keeps posting on his wall and retweeting his messages, then you know the livingmasjid group supports wahabi extremism.  Adnan Rashid is the opposite of "openness" and "masjid4all" that the livingmasjid group keeps promoting.
For example:

Before the elections, the livingmasjid campaigners were sending texts and videos arguing that Harrow Mosque is "peeri", "doing shirk", etc. On the livingmasjid twitter, they still promote the video accusing Harrow Mosque of "shirk". They also openly supported the unauthorised wahabi sisters circle that was occurring in Harrow Mosque.
Abid Khan, one of the livingmasjid candidates is also a part of Qiblah Foundation, a new wahabi organisation.
Furthermore all the wahabi Mosques in the Harrow area were openly supporting the livingmasjid group.  This all shows that the livingmasjid group is full of wahabis, no matter how much they may try to lie about that fact (this group has been known to lie, as also witnessed by some of the defections from their side).
